Oasis to offer Overwatch players a "fresh experience"

We sat down with Blizzard's Scott Mercer and Michael Chu to talk about the map.

Blizzard announced a new map for Overwatch called Oasis at BlizzCon 2016 and we talked with Principal Game Designer Scott Mercer and Senior Game Designer Michael Chu to learn a bit more about the new map and what it offers to fans.

"So Oasis is going to be Overwatch's 14th map to go into the competitive and quickplay rotation, and it's going to be our 4th control map," Chu said, "and some people think of our control maps as our king of the hill mode. It takes place in this futuristic city out in the middle of the desert in what is modern day Iraq right now, and I think when you run around it looks quite good, it looks absolutely beautiful. The spaces are designed differently than in the other control maps so I think it should offer players a fresh experience."

"And for the first time we've put a jump pad in one of our maps, and so there's a lot of really cool opportunities to do interesting things with the jump pad. The first time you see a McCree ulting as he's using one of these jump pads, it kind of changes your view of what's possible in Overwatch."
