With yesterday's Nintendo Direct Mini the Japanese publisher announced a new online mode coming to Super Mario Odyssey in a few weeks. Balloon World highlights famous ghostbuster Luigi, who has a special hide and seek challenge for us.
In "Hiding Mode" we have to hide a special balloon somewhere in the world stage we're currently playing in. You only have 30 seconds, so you'd better know some nice locations that no one else knows about.
In "Finding Mode" we have to find other players' balloon within the same time frame to receive a few gold coins and climb up the online leaderboards. Nintendo is calling the Balloon World challenge an "objective based speedrun" and it should be clear which players they are targeting with this update.
Furthermore Nintendo will launch three additional outfits for Mario and his friend Cappy, as you can see for yourself in the image below. The free update arrives sometimes in February. Sadly, Luigi will not be playable. Mama Mia!
