FromSoftware has pushed its Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive The Duskbloods out of 2026 and into 2027, the studio announced in a post on the game's official X account on 29 October 2026.
"While development of 'The Duskbloods' is at the final adjustment stage, we have made the decision to move the launch window to 2027," FromSoftware said, adding: "We apologize to players who have been kindly awaiting the release of this title and thank you for your patience and support."
The studio said the extra time will go into final adjustments to game rules and balancing, based on what it saw during the closed network test held across five sessions from 21 to 24 August 2026. No release date within 2027 has been announced.
What it leaves Switch 2 with this year
The Duskbloods was revealed at the Switch 2 unveiling Direct in April 2025, and Nintendo reaffirmed its 2026 launch window as recently as February without ever committing to a date. Its slip removes one of the biggest exclusives from the Switch 2's second holiday season, and takes it clear of Grand Theft Auto 6, which launches in November 2026.
The opening network test session in August was cut short after widespread login and connectivity problems, and player feedback on the test build included criticism that the eight-player PvPvE matches were confusing and weighted too heavily toward PvP. The test build itself covered only one of three planned maps and six of the game's ten launch characters.
Producer Yasuhiro Kitao has previously said more people applied for The Duskbloods' network test than did for Elden Ring Nightreign's, despite the game being locked to a single platform. Nintendo's German, French and Italian social accounts reposted the delay announcement, adding: "To provide the best possible gaming experience, the release date for The Duskbloods is now scheduled for 2027. We thank you for your patience."
The Duskbloods now arrives sometime in 2027, exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2.
