From Dust concept art

From Dust is definitely firmly on the radar as one of the most interesting downloadable titles on the horizon and this "artistic package" sent out by Ubisoft with concept art did little to lower our expectations.

Art director Bruno Gentile had this to say about the inspiration behind the visual style:

"Nature has been the key visual inspiration in "From Dust". Documentaries such as Planet Earth from the BBC or aerial photographies from Yann Arthus Bertrand have been our guide in this journey to design the environments.
Some places of inspiration include the the Yemen island of Socotra with endemic plants, the contemplative aesthetic of central Sahara and the lagoon archipelagos from Polynesia as well as Eric's Chahi awesome pictures of volcanoes."
