Today Larian Studios announced that Divinity: Original Sin II will be coming to Steam Early Access on September 15.

The sequel to Divinity: Original Sin is built using the Divinity Engine and will feature up to four-person multiplayer action, both co-operative and competitive. Advanced elemental interactions also form a part of the new combat mechanics as well.

In the game you play as a "wielder of forbidden magic, quarantined in the prison colony of Fort Joy. The Magisters of the Divine Order want to "cure" you of your powers. But, the Order has secrets of its own. Secrets that threaten everyone. If the world remains godless, chaos will rule. It's time for a new Divinity."

The RPG allows you to create a custom origin story for characters as well and takes inspiration from tabletop gaming. This is said to create an "individualised adventure with distinctive interactions and quests".
