Deltarune Chapter 6 scheduled to release in 2027, says Toby Fox

Chapter 5 apparently completed a lot of the necessary setup for Chapters 6 and 7, which will take the story out of silly adventures.

Deltarune Chapter 5 released back in June, and now a lot of people have had time to play it, Toby Fox is looking ahead to what's next. With a last blast of wackiness out of the way, the solo developer now believes a lot of the setup has been done in order to push the story in a new direction, and start solving some of the major mysteries set up right from the start.

"From Chapter 6 onward, there are no more wacky silly adventures, and you will begin to see the results of the setup that has been made so far," Fox writes in a new newsletter for the summer. It's also revealed that Chapter 6 has a tentative release window of 2027, but fans should expect this to be a less substantial dose of Deltarune.

"Chapter 6 is a shorter, straightforward chapter that focuses on one aspect of the story. Because of that, many things are still not touched on here - in fact, it may surprise you what was missing! But one thing will be clarified, whether you're ready or not."

Players who think chapters should be getting longer, not shorter, are addressed in the newsletter, as Fox says that by the end of Chapter 7, we'll see how the story is being told and hopefully be satisfied with where it's heading. If you're looking to track the progress of it all, you can check out how Chapter 7B is doing here (pro tip: highlight the page to see a hidden message).
