Pearl Abyss has delayed Crimson Desert expansion Charting the Unknown by two weeks, moving its planned release from October 15 to October 29. The developer said it needs additional development time to refine the content and deliver a more polished, stable gameplay experience.

Priced at $25, Charting the Unknown is the first major DLC since Crimson Desert launched in March 2026. It adds seafaring, ships and new islands, alongside underwater diving, explorable ruins, treasure and new mysteries, as well as additional quests, story content, enemies and bosses.

The expansion also broadens the game’s home-building options: players will be able to rent properties, run facilities and build a more substantial home. A relationship system will let them form bonds with locals in Pywel.

The delay is a short schedule adjustment, not an indefinite postponement. Pearl Abyss has already delivered numerous patches and content additions since launch, including quality-of-life updates, story improvements and combat changes; in August, the game was renamed Crimson Desert Enhanced to bring together 17 patches and content additions. The studio says it will use the extra time to further refine Charting the Unknown before its October 29 release.
