Gillen caught up with lead game designer Emile Morel to discuss the prospects of Rayman Legends, the delay, and load screens.
"We took those six months to really improve the game. I mean the game was already great in January, but we've created a lot of content now. We added 3D bosses in the game, big 3D epic boss fight at the end of each world, that we didn't have before actually. We also added 30 new levels, so the scope of the game is really huge now it's actually more than 120 levels, which is more tahn 20 hours of gameplay to really fully complete the game at a hundred percent."
"Suddenly at one point [in Rayman Origins] it was becoming very, very difficult. So now we are making sure that difficulty is becoming more progressive and that you don't get stuck basically."
"Actually people really liked to punch eachother. They love it. It creates great laugh between the players and it's part of the experience. Rayman is about sitting on your couch and playing with your friends and if you want to punch them you can punch them. Most of the time players at the beginning of a level start punching eachother and all of a sudden they're like "okay, so let's not punch, let's try to work together". They have to communicate, find a way to really work together. So it's important for us to be able to punch and as soon as it doesn't break the gameplay."
