MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV has lead a troubled life this past year, and as the developer works on a massive overhaul of the game for a soft reboot, its released an open letter to the community detailing the imminent changes.

For one, subscriptions will be returning to the game in the next few months, a decision that "will not be popular," admits company President Yoichi Wada, but is "necessary".

"In the ten months since the FINAL FANTASY XIV team's restructuring, we have put forth the utmost effort into not only improving the game's existing features, but also creating a concrete plan to outline the game's new direction," he explains, asking for fans understanding and support.

You can read the whole outline of the continued roll out of changes and updates to the game on the official site.
