Mario Kart 7 gets Metal Mario

As well as first-person mode.

Nintendo's TGS screens for 3DS-bound Mario Kart 7 have revealed some new additions to the racing series.

Metal Mario - first seen in Mario 64 - makes an appearance, popping up as a selectable character alongside Lakitu, who's finally being upgraded to the big league. Power-up additions include the multi-shot Fire Flower, which flies through the air in an arc before landing on the track.

The game will also offer a first-person mode while driving, allowing you to whizz around the tracks using the gyro-controls. There'll be eight player online races offered as well.

The game is due out in the UK on December 2nd.
