Nintendo has struck a deal with Wi-Fi provider The Cloud that'll enable 3DS users to connect to the company's 5,000 hotspots for free.
As reported by Gamesindustry.biz, the service is in immediate effect, letting users use the handheld's internet capabilities, like eShop, when connected to the The Cloud.
"The Cloud partnership represents another exciting step that will continue to expand its appeal and encourage owners to take their Nintendo 3DS systems with them wherever they go," said Nintendo UK marketing director Dawn Paine.
"Nintendo is a fantastic addition to our list of strategic partners and site owners who are making the most of Wi-Fi's potential to give their customers a better entertainment experience," added Steve Nicholson, The Cloud's managing director.
Will the deal increase the numbers actively using their units while travelling? Recently Gamereactor conducted an international survey, covering Europe and the UK, to see how popular the 3DS StreetPass system is.
