Speculation is mounting that developer PopCap Games, creator of the likes of Peggle and Plants Vs Zombies, is the focus of a $1 billion acquisition by an unnamed buyer.
TechCrunch (as reported by Gamesindustry.biz) broke the story that the company was currently under buyout, with the hefty price tag reportedly being confirmed by "several sources".
When questioned about the story, a representative for the company stated "it didn't comment on rumour or speculation of this type."
The question of who the buyer is as well is up in the air, with business sites looking to companies with enough financial clout -EA and Google have been suggested - to be able to afford such a move.
