Xbox gets new Speed Wheel

Wireless wonder gets October release.

Microsoft is releasing a new racing wheel for the Xbox 360, with the wireless peripheral retailing at £44.99 on its release this October.

The reduction in price against previous official wheel incarnations which went for over a hundred quid might seem odd, until you see the hardware shots.

The Speed Wheel builds in gas and brake into the frame of the controller itself, and looks more in line with the range of lightweight joypads rather than the hefty units of before.

Microsoft's press release states: "The Wireless Speed Wheel is completely wireless and controlled intuitively with precise steering, standard controller buttons/triggers, and haptic feedback with rumble."
