EA has had to change tack when it comes to loot boxes, with the backlash over their inclusion in Star Wars Battlefront II echoing everytime they're implemented in a new game.

This is even more so the case as different official bodies around the world evaluate their position on whether these loot boxes constitute gambling, with some countries even going so far as to threaten legal action.

Which leads us to FIFA 19, where once again packs that can be purchased for real money in FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT). What's different this time, however, is now we can see the odds for what we might potentially get when we drop some coin. If you're the kind of person who only likes to bet on a sure thing, they'll make for uncomfortable reading.

That's because the rarest cards, in this case, the "Ones to Watch" that are part of a new in-game promotion, have a less than 1% chance of dropping from a premium gold pack. Players are guaranteed a 75+ player, have a 41% chance of getting an 82-rated player or better, and a teeny tiny 4.3% chance of getting a gold 85+ player.

On the other hand, those Ones to Watch players, who can potentially see their numbers elevated above their in-game stats based on real-world form, will drop less 1% of the time. Who knows, it could be significantly less than 1% - we just don't know and EA isn't saying.

Does knowing the numbers give you pause for thought, or are you going to grab some packs anyway? Let us know in the comments below.
