It doesn't look like Halo Infinite will have a battle royale mode

343i only has plans for one BR in the next entry in the series.

Battle royale modes are a dime a dozen these days, with original games and standalone expansions popping up here, there, and everywhere. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 was recently confirmed as having one, as was Battlefield V. Throw them in the mix with Fortnite, PUBG, and all the rest, and it's clear to see that everyone wants a slice of this particular pie.

One game that isn't getting a battle royale mode by the looks of it, is the upcoming Halo Infinite. It's not for certain just yet, but according to 343i's Jeff Easterling, "the only BR we're really interested in is Battle Rifle... the original BR. So, calm yourself."

Perhaps the studio is envisaging the subgenre burning out by the time Halo Infinite launches (we still have no idea when that will be, all we got at E3 was a tantalising teaser trailer), or perhaps they'll rue the day that they decided to walk a different path and steer the long-running shooter series away from the most popular game type on the planet. Who knows, maybe the studio will have a change of heart before the game comes to market. Time will tell.
