We still have little in the way of concrete information about Rage 2, the sequel to the shooter developed by id Software and published way back in 2011. As it stands the only confirmed details we have is that the game comes from a partnership between Avalanche Studios (the Just Cause series and, perhaps more importantly, Mad Max) and id Software, and that it won't have the same protagonist as the first game. Naturally, it's also going to have an emphasis on vehicular action.
And now we know something else. Apparently, according to id Software's Tim Willits, Rage 2 won't be a "straight up sequel" to the 2011 game, rather it will be a completely new experience:
"It's definitely much more than a straight up sequel, because the gameplay and the partnership with Avalanche has really shaped it into something unique and special. It really has been a buddy movie of love working with the Avalanche team and sharing ideas and knowledge," he said to Official PlayStation Magazine.
Willits also added that Rage 2 will present wider and more varied environments than those of the first game, and it'll be accompanied by a much deeper narrative.
We're really curious to learn more about the game, and there isn't long to wait since Bethesda has plans to show and tell more about Rage 2 during its conference on Monday, June 11 at 2:30 BST.
