Obviously that ending of Resident Evil: Afterlife 3D was more cliffhanger than tease, as Sony and Screen Gems have already announced a release date for the fifth installment in the film franchise: Resident Evil 5 is hitting cinemas September 14, 2012.
That's according to Empire Magazine which reports that even though a date has been set, there's zero other news regarding cast, director or script, though its an obvious shoe-in that two of those roles will go to Milla Jovovich and Paul WS Anderson, the husband and wife team who have fronted the franchise as principal lead and director respectively since it hit cinemas way back since 2002.
So will we see Alice clash against Jill Valentine as Afterlife's ending teased? Will the series cherry-pick more characters from the game franchise for their big screen debut? And more importantly: will the ten anniversary of the movie tie-in series see an improvement in quality over the previous instalments?
