2K Games has just announced Mike Patton will be reprising his role as the voice of the infamous Darkness, the entity that bonds with and tortures mafia man Jackie Estacado.

Patton, the frontman for Faith No More, lent his vocals to the ultimate evil in the first title, managing all sorts of unnatural voice work without the aid of any computerised alterations or effects, and was one of the game's highlights.

"It feels really good to be the bad guy, and The Darkness is as bad as it gets," said Mike Patton. "I've read through the script and Jackie is going to be a brutally tortured soul. I'm looking forward to making his life a living hell."

The Darkness II, developed by Digital Extremes, will be released later this year.
