At the BAFTA HQ in London this morning, the top ten shortlist for the GAME nominations, games picked by a panel of industry experts and voted by the public, was announced.
Along with the usual suspects, some surprising additions were listed, including PlayDead's excellent XBLA puzzle platformer Limbo which shouldered its way in on behalf of the digital titles, and Criterion's Need for Speed, which was the sole game flying for the flag for the racing genre.
The list in full is:
Call of Duty: Black Ops
Dance Central
Fifa 11
Halo: Reach
Heavy Rain
Limbo
Mass Effect 2
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit
Red Dead Redemption
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Voting has opened on BAFTA's website and the awards will be streamed live from the site on the evening of March 16.
We talked to representatives from Nintendo, EA and Sony about the nominations. Those interviews will go live shortly.
