UK retail giant HMV has announced that sixty stores across the country will be closed over the course of this year due to a poor performance by the company over the Christmas sales period.
Expected sales for games along with DVDs and CDs were lower that hoped, partly due to the adverse weather that effected most of the country over the closing weeks of 2010, as well as "challenging trade conditions".
"The pace of change in the markets in which we operate underlines the urgency with which we must continue to transform this business," chief executive Simon Fox stated.
