Treat this one with a generous pinch of salt, ladies and gentlemen. But given the connect-the-dots nature of the rumour, it's worth regaling you with.
Chinese site MMOgamesite, as reported by industrygamers.com, has uploaded what looks like Blizzard's product slate, which lists all the upcoming software from the MMO giant right into 2015. The slate has been supplied to the site by an anonymous user, who claims the chart as originating from leaked documentation coming from Blizzard's Chinese offices.
With us so far? Right. get your pens ready.
On the slate, which also details multiple Diablo and Starcraft projects, there's a solitary project entitled 'Titan', which is down for a 2013 release.
Industrygamers has pointed out that the project title is the same as the Halo MMO under development at Ensemble Studios before the company was closed down post-halo Wars launch. Some of that studio's staff now work at Blizzard.
Earlier this year Bungie signed with Activision to work on a ten-year partnership deal, with everything pointing the Halo creator was commencing work on a MMO. And who best to ask for advice on the genre than the developer with the biggest market share?
So: Project Titan. Fake, resurrected project, new game or just such a snappy name its worth using twice? There' are too many uncertainties to coat this with anything other than 'rumour' in mile-high red lettering. Pens down and tell us what you think in the comments below.
