Sony has released a new 22" version of its Bravia HDTV model that comes with an in-built PlayStation 2.
The Bravia KDL22PX300 has the console forming the base of the television, though from the single packaging shot seen so far we're not sure whether a PS2's innards have been slotted into a TV base, or whether we're looking at a PS2 with a TV wielded to the side. (Unlikely its the hatchet job of the latter, but if it is - its a PS2 Slim, not old-school fat.)
Given the hardware the device will play both CDs and DVDs as well as PS2 titles. Its perhaps being offered as a cheap alternative to the TV's with in-built Blu-ray, or a gift for a younger gamer. You can still pick up PS2 titles relatively easily, though for veterans this also might afford you the chance to replay those PS1 titles you've got sealed behind your gaming displays at home, since the PS2 could play its predecessor's games.
The TV comes kitted out with four HDMI sockets, SCART, component, a PC input, twin optical digital outputs, headphone and audio outputs, three USB sockets (2 at USB 1.1) and two Ethernet connections.
