2K Games have revealed that Philip II will be joining Civilization VI as the leader of Spain, joining the likes of Qin Shi Huang, Montezuma and Catherine de Medici in the roster of leaders.
Religion will be Spain's speciality in the game and their unique unit will be the Conquistador. This unit will be granted a bonus if it shares a tile with an Inquisitor, Missionary or Apostle and cities that are captured will automatically convert to Span's religion is this unit it next to it.
Spain can also build the Mission which is a religious outpost, as well as establish Treasure Fleets that can give bonuses on trade routes between continents. Philip's special ability, "El Escorial", grants a combat bonus against players of other religions and also gives Inquisitors another chance of tackling heresy.
Civilization VI is due for release on October 21.
