What started as a sequel to a relatively unknown PlayStation 3 title (Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars), has now become a worldwide phenomenon. Greatly helped by being featured as a free game for all PlayStation Plus subscribers last summer, Psyonix' Rocket League has seen success its creators dared not even dream about.
We have already learned that the game has secured over $50 million USD for the California-based company, which is amazing considering they only spent around $2 million dollars developing it. Now it has also been confirmed that the number of players has surpassed 10 million across PlayStation 4 and PC:
"WOW! The Rocket League community is now more than 10 MILLION PLAYERS strong! Thank you so much for everything you've done for us!", Psyonix wrote on Twitter.
With the Xbox One version yet to come, the future is indeed looking bright for vehicular football. Nice shot!
