Rocket League has earned near $50 million

Huge success revealed for vehicular kickabout.

It's the Wall Street Journal that reports on Psyonix' rather impressive earnings from their summer release, Rocket League. The game was developed on a $2 million budget, and now the earnings are closing in on $50 million.

The game has become very popular with over 8 million registered players on PlayStation 4 and PC, and Xbox One players are getting access come February. Rocket League was free for all with a PS Plus subscription when it was released in July, which surely helped the game get some traction. This, however, makes the earnings figures even more impressive.

Psyonix is now in dialogue with several car manufacturers and licence holders in order to include more well-known models in the game. As if the DeLorean wasn't enough...
