Bethesda's kicked off its debut E3 conference with a look at the all-new Doom.

Playing into concept of the original classic, Doom has you exploring a Mars research facility that's been overrun with demons. As id Software executive producer Marty Stratton said as he introduced gameplay, Doom is all about three things: "demons, big f-ing guns, and moving really fast".

Gameplay clips covering single and multiplayer proved to be just that, with a staple of iconic weapons - double-barrelled shotgun, plasma rifle, chainsaw and more - showcased, as well as some new (and brutal) melee finishers.

While the game will come with a single player campaign and multiplayer, the studio is also introducing Snapmap, an in-game map and mode creator that'll allow players to design their own levels, populate them with content and enemies, define in-game logic, and create new modes (co-op Horde, Deathmatch etc), and share them with friends and other players worldwide.

The game's due out spring 2016 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
