When it was confirmed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 would be the first Call of Duty game to launch on a Nintendo platform in around a decade, many questions were soon raised about the project and how it would be adapted to suit Nintendo's platform.
To this end, during our time at Gamescom recently, we sat down with an individual involved with the anticipated title to learn more about what to expect from the Switch 2 edition, namely Beatriz Gonzales, associate production director at Digital Legends, the studio behind the Switch 2 version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.
In the interview, we inquired about how Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 runs on Switch 2, with Gonzalez explaining the following.
"I know how it runs now. And I know that we are still part of the work of it. I mean, we got it to run at 60 FPS docked for MP, so that was pretty good. And we've got a lot of positive views from Next already on that. So now it's like continue making it smooth, continue working on tightening the image quality. You know, it's still all gas, no brakes. Until launch."
We then inquired further about the file size of the game and how much storage space fans should be expecting to put aside for the game.
"With the size, it's something that we know, especially on Switch 2, that people are going to be worried about. And we kept that in mind to do the most efficient package that we can offer on downloads. The team is working on that a bunch. I believe we landed on 87 gigabytes for launch. I think that is a good number considering the insane amount of content that goes into a Call of Duty game."
Gonzales also confirmed the Call of Duty HQ launcher/hub will be used with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on Switch 2, despite not having any other games it can connect to as of yet. Likewise, due to the game aiming for 87 GB in file size, we probably shouldn't expect to see Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on a cartridge, as rather it'll seemingly favour the Game Key Card approach instead.
