You might remember that for some time, rumours swirled and circled that Harry Potter veteran Daniel Radcliffe was being eyed as the person to carry the mantle of Wolverine into the future. Picking up the torch from Hugh Jackman and even offering a version of the character that is more accurate from a height perspective, it actually seemed like a rather fitting idea, but it was also one that was never actually real.
Speaking about this former rumour, Radcliffe told ComicBook that it was "never real" and that even if it was, he wouldn't want to be the person that tackled the role of Wolverine right after Jackman hung his Adamantium claws up.
"It was not. It was never real. It was a very flattering internet rumor. I was very happy about it, but it was never suggested in any kind of way by anybody with any power to make that happen. And, honestly, you would be stupid not to consider something like that, but if they do other Wolverines, being the person who follows Hugh Jackman is not on my bucket list for anything. For any role of his, particularly the role he has made the most iconic of his career, I am happy not to be doing that and let him keep doing it."
But does this mean that we'll never see Radcliffe in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? It could still happen, as the actor also notes that he is "certainly not averse to it" and that he "would never rule anything like that out." That being said, "I am not necessarily clamoring to be in it or seeking that," as Radcliffe notes, as his MCU debut would entirely depend on a script that was "exciting, different, weird, and cool".
