Due to the way that electric motors can kick into action near instantaneously, whereas combustion engines need a little bit of time to start the combustion process to generate energy, electric vehicles generally have a much higher rate of acceleration than ICE cars. This is once again proven in the world of Formula E, as the next platform for its race cars has been unveiled and will boast a 0-60 mph time that will quite frankly blow your mind.
The GEN3 EVO model as it is known will be able to achieve 0-60 mph in 1.82 seconds. For comparison, this will be around 36% faster than the current GEN3 model, and around 30% faster than the current iteration of F1 vehicles.
The GEN3 EVO will also have a stronger and more agile frame, a new more aerodynamic bodykit, all-wheel drive support for the first time in an FE car, and new all-weather optimised tyres that are made from 35% recycled and sustainable materials. Needless to say, Formula E is looking to set a development precedent for F1 to match when its new car platform makes its debut in 2026.
