Vauxhall has announced that it is giving one of its SUV models the full electric treatment. The Grandland is being upgraded to the next-generation, by getting a design and appearance change and also now featuring an all-electric powertrain too.
The car is being built on Vauxhall's STLA Medium platform and is said to feature a flat battery package design that offers a range of up to 435 miles on its 98kWh battery. It will also be able to fast-charge to 80% in around 26 minutes when hooked up to a fast-charging station.
This new Grandland model will also be larger and longer with new storage elements that allows it to hold up to 35 litres of additional items. It will bolster new front seats and a variety of new lighting systems that pop up with over 50,000 individual elements. This is on top of a 16-inch central display that serves as the infotainment hub.
While the EV model is the biggest change, Vauxhall does promise that it will support this version of the car with a Plug-in Hybrid and fully Hybrid model too, all when it hits showrooms in the UK and beyond this autumn.
