Rivian has lifted the curtain and announced a slate of new electric SUV models, each built on a new platform developed by the car maker. Known as the R2, R3, and the R3X, each of the cars are marginally different from the other, with a slate of minor customisable elements too.
The R2 is said to be "distinctly Rivian" and features a powered rear glass that can be dropped to allow for more storage, an interior defined for its ease-of-use, and first and second row seating that can be folded down to create more space.
The R3 is a "midsize crossover" that is "tidy on dimensions but delivers big in terms of performance, off-road capability, passenger comfort, and storage." It differs from the R3X as that version is known to be a performance variant with "even more dynamic abilities both on and off road."
The R2 and R3 models will each feature two battery options, the largest of which promises a range of 300 miles and a 0-60 mph acceleration of less than three seconds. Details on the R3X are yet to be affirmed.
What we do know is that the R2 will sell for around $45,000 and will look to ship and debut on roads in the first half of 2026. Once this has happened, deliveries for the R3 and the R3X will start to commence.
