BMW has announced that for the sixth generation of the BMW 5 Series Touring model it will be leaving behind combustion engines entirely, and instead using only an electric drivetrain.
This model will come in one of two types, with the BMW i5 M60 xDrive Touring will offer a 442 kW/601 hp motor that is capable of achieving 0-100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds. The other model, the BMW i5 eDrive40 Touring features a 250 kwW/340 hp motor that can do 0-100 km/h in 6.1 seconds.
On top of having a battery that can be fast-charged, as well as having a chassis that is longer and wider, the car also boasts an interior that is highlighted by a 12.3-inch display and control panel that can use Apple Car Play and Android Auto, as well as offering a virtual assistant too.
The new models are slated to debut in Germany, Japan, and a few other European countries in May, before getting a wider rollout in June.
