It's a pretty well known fact that Formula 1 serves as a place where a lot of future automotive technology is tested and developed. The teams are at the forefront of performance vehicular engineering, and because of this we often see a trickle down effect where innovative technology and ideas eventually make their way to road cars in one form or another. Red Bull Racing has used this train of thought to get into the world of electric scooters, creating a device that took a team of 16 engineers 2,500 hours to perfect.

The F1 team has now lifted the curtain on the RBS#01, which is an e-scooter that is said to boast a 750w motor, 80Nm of torque, a chassis that only weighs 50lbs due to being made from carbon fiber, and a range that clocks 40 miles. The team described the device as the "ultimate electric scooter".

On top of these core features, we're also told that the RBS#01 has an LED light on its front for night riding, hydraulic disc brakes to "help you stop like a race car", and an LCD screen that displays a few core bits of information.

As this is a product designed by an F1 team, the main catch is that it costs an arm and a leg to buy one. At the current time, the RBS#01 is selling for $6,500, although it is road legal, comes fully assembled, and is shipped to your door, so there are some positives behind that jaw-dropping price.
