Lotus is essentially an electric vehicle manufacturer these days, with the car creator having a whole list of interesting and exciting EVs under its belt. To accommodate these cars, Lotus has now lifted the curtain on a new charging solution that is described as ultra-fast and capable of charging four EVs at once.
It's called the Lotus Flash Charge and is able to kick out enough electricity to deliver 450 kW. This means you can fast-charge a Lotus Eletre R, adding 142 km of range in just five minutes, and it can even complete a fast-charge of 10% to 80% in just 20 minutes.
It works by having a liquid-cooled power cabinet that increases efficiency and minimises charging time, as well as having a liquid-cooled charging unit that is able to hold a maximum current of 600 Amp.
Lotus has said that it will be using this technology at its fast-charging stations around the world, and will be deploying it as such further throughout the majority of European countries in Q2 2024. There's no mention as to whether you can buy a Flash Charge station for your home, but considering its power output that's probably for the best when considering your electricity bill.
