It looks like we are currently staring down a potential record-breaking number plate sale in the UK, as Primo Registrations has now put up the famous AU 1 plate that most notably appeared in 1964's James Bond film, Goldfinger, on a Rolls-Royce Phantom III that was driven by Goldfinger and his henchman, Oddjob, when the pair were smuggling gold out of the country.
The listing is up for a starting price of £300,000, but considering the notoriety of this plate and the fact that personalised plates usually end up being highly sought after commodities, it is very likely that the AU 1 plate will sell for significantly more. If it manages to sell for more than £518,000, it will officially be the most expensive plate in the UK.
There is no word on when the sale will be completed, but no doubt it's set to be a very expensive ordeal.
