American muscle has felt a bit tame as of late, especially when compared to where it was in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. But Ford is looking to flip this script on its head in the near future, as the automotive titan has now announced the Ford Mustang GTD, a car that is described as "unapologetic" and the fastest roadgoing Mustang ever.

How does it manage this, the car is powered by a 5.2-litre V8 that is expected to produce a whopping 800 horsepower. It also features an array of other components that are aimed at ensuring the engine runs at its best.

"Mustang GTD represents the very best of Ford Motor Company and what our team needs to do every day," said Jim Farley, CEO and president of Ford. "This is what happens when we take what we're good at and push the boundaries to see where the bubble stops. It represents the essence of the transformation we're going through at Ford, from software to special edition cars."

The car will be making its first appearance at Le Mans next year, and after that will be looking to launch in late 2024/early 2025, all for the approximate price of $300,000. Yes, that is supercar territory, but so is the performance of the vehicle.
