Certain car manufacturers seem to be committing entirely to an all-electric future, as Jaguar, Rolls-Royce, Volkswagen, and more have all promised to be an EV-only brand within the near future. We're seeing the steps towards this already, as entire ranges of EV vehicles from these brands are being designed and produced, but one manufacturer that isn't ready to go all-electric yet is McLaren.

As noted in a new press release, the supercar brand has entered into a long-term partnership with the engine-supplier Ricardo, in the effort of supplying V8 engines for the "next generation of lightweight, high-performance hybrid supercars". Granted, these will be hybrids, meaning McLaren does at least have its foot in the door of the EV industry.

"Our new high-performance, hybrid V8 powertrain will form an integral part of McLaren's next generation product line-up delivering best-in-class performance and thrilling driver engagement," said Michael Leiters, Chief Executive Officer at McLaren Automotive.

As for what this next generation of supercar will look like, McLaren hasn't announced or delved into this just yet.
