Administrators Moorfields Corporate Recovery have said that Blockbuster's remaining 91 stores are due to close by December 16th, effecting 808 staff.

The rental chain got a life-line this year at it entered into administration previously, giving it a reprieve to find potential buyers to save the chain. That deadline has come and past.

"Unfortunately, we were unable to secure a buyer for the group as a going concern and as a result had to take the regrettable action to close the remaining stores." said joint administrators Simon Thomas and Nick O'Reilly.
