In an interview with Famitsu, as translated by Twitter user Japanese Nintendo, the producer of the Zelda series Eiji Aonuma spoke about the series as a whole following the very successful Breath of the Wild, a game that took Link into the open world.
In the interview he revealed that open worlds will be the standard in the series from now on, but he did also say that once that becomes stale or 'the norm', they'll listen to more ideas about where the series can go.
