Despite a long wait for Shenmue fans to get the third game in the series, which has only just released after a crowdfunding campaign, YS Net CEO Yu Suzuki has said in a letter to fans that he hopes to continue the journey in Shenmue 4, as reported by Metro.
"To all the fans who have waited many years for Shenmue 3, and to all of the crowdfunding backers who have made this game possible: This project would not exist without your love, support, and the connections we've made along the way. With profound appreciation for all that you have done, I am happy to finally present to you Shenmue 3," he wrote.
"During development I expanded the scope beyond what I had originally envisioned. I'm happy we were able to include the distinct 'Shenmue' charm throughout the game. I hope that this new chapter strikes even a small resonance in your heart."
He also adds that he "will never give up" on completing the story, and that he hopes he can continue the tale with Shenmue 4 at some point.
In an interview with USgamer this summer, Suzuki said that Shenmue 3 represents brings us to around the 40% mark of the overall narrative, so we're not even halfway through yet.
When will Shenmue's story be complete?
