Microsoft launched the option of playing backwards compatible Xbox 360 games on the Xbox One last year, but the process of getting those games digitally was cumbersome. You had to get them through the Xbox.com website, and you'd have to have a credit card attached to your account even if the game you wanted was free.
That's changing with the next dashboard update for the Xbox One, currently available for users enrolled in the Xbox One preview program. A new build has gone out that ads Xbox 360 games to the store:
"New Features in this Build:
Purchase Xbox 360 Backward compatible games: Games today will be discover-able via Game hubs and Activity feed and over the next 24 hours the Store programming will be live for a full end to end purchasing experience."
There's no word on when the update goes live for regular users.
