Team SoloMid have announced that Yiliang 'Doublelift' Peng will be taking a break from esports, meaning he won't be taking part in the upcoming spring split.

They also announced, however, that he will still be part of the team and that he will instead be streaming during the spring split. Doublelift had this to say on his hiatus: "It has been a huge privilege to play professionally with so much support from my fans and teammates. I'm tremendously grateful for the fans who follow me and cheer me on through this wild ride."

"I am not so talented as many believe. The quality that has kept me domestically dominant for five straight seasons isn't nature, it's determination. So many of my peers from Season 1 lacked the fire and willpower to be the best, and they have long faded away. When I do something, I put my heart and soul into it, striving to achieve greatness."

"That's why it's time for a small break. After our convincing performance in Summer, NALCS Spring is considerably less appetising. Streaming and creating content is something I've always wanted to focus on, and it's the perfect time to do it. I'll come back if the team needs me - better than before, and better than ever."

SoloMid are now looking for an AD carry to fill the gap, and they also say that if Doublelift chooses to return he will have to compete for the position. They maintain a new recruit will be a permanent member of the team, though, and tryouts will be held this month.

Andy 'Reginald' Dinh said: "It's unfortunate for us that Doublelift is taking time off; he's a really great player and was very important to our team's success in this last year. On the other hand, I'm happy for him personally because he's going to have a more well balanced schedule."

SoloMid will not be competing at IEM Oakland because of this change to the roster, instead using the time to try and replace Doublelift. Will you miss Doublelift?
