Patch 7 has just been released for Xcom 2 on PC, and among other things this adds controller support for the game, meaning you can use your Xbox One or Xbox 360 controller in order to control Firaxis Games' strategic action.

"Starting today, Xcom 2 on PC can now be played using a controller," the update notes read. "Xcom 2 has plug & play compatibility with both the Xbox One and Xbox 360 controllers. Alternate controller options may require additional user adjustments. Fans have been requesting controller support and we're glad to deliver. We have been hard at work tailoring the interface specifically for controllers so that it provides a level of comfort and accessibility that our players expect."

"While controller support adds a new way for Commanders playing on PC to experience XCOM 2, we're excited to show you how combining it with the game's versatile modding capabilities can open up an interesting new view into the Resistance, you may not have seen before."

The complete list of changes isn't that long for the patch, however:

- Adds traditional (non-Steam Controller) controller support to the PC
- Fix config/upk file issues that prevent full conversion mods from being possible on the Steam Workshop and also allow mods to have Bink files.
- In Alien Hunters, the "Ruler Reaction" notification will stay on the screen after a unit fires at the Archon King while he is using Icarus Drop during combat.
- SPARKS cannot be healed by Medikits
- Additional minor bug fixes

However, there is also another new feature in the game allowing you to experience Xcom 2 from a new perspective. In another update post we are introduced to the ability to fully control the camera as opposed to a bird's eye view, which is showcased in the trailer below.

"Today we're showing how PC players can experience Xcom 2 from the ground level. By following a few steps, players can enable full camera control to see all of the finely crafted details present in Xcom 2. Take a tour of the Avenger, explore the different environments the XCOM team lands in, maybe hop into a replay and capture your coolest moments, there's a ton to play around with here!"

Instructions on how to enable this can be found here. Which feature are you most pleased with?

"The story mission is fleeting but decent, and the new soldier class will change the dynamic of any mission."
