Microsoft has certainly adopted a different approach to its competitors this console generation. The company has focused much of its attention on its Game Pass subscription service and it is striving to make its games more accessible than ever through cloud-based technology. The manufacturer's strategy might have changed, but according to Liz Hamren, CVP of Gaming Experiences & Platforms, they are still focused on creating new hardware.
In an exclusive Microsoft event that we were able to attend virtually before E3, Liz Hamren said: "Cloud is key to our hardware and Game Pass roadmaps, but no one should think that we are slowing down on our core console engineering." She continued: "We're already hard at work on new hardware and platforms, some of which won't come to light for years."
Who knows then what Microsoft could already be working on. Could it perhaps be a mid life cycle revision of the Xbox Series or maybe the long-awaited Xbox 720?
