Sony's E3 press conference last year is by many considered one of the best. Games like The Last Guardian, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Final Fantasy VII Remake and Shenmue 3 stole the show, so some of you might have forgotten that World of Final Fantasy was announced at the expo as well.

In World of Final Fantasy, you'll play as a pair of twins, Reynn and Lann, through the land of Grymoire on a search of their lost memories. Along the way, they'll come across many familiar faces from the Final Fantasy franchise. Though they may not look the way you remember.

As you see, the characters have received what you might call an adorable make-over. The visuals aren't the only thing that distinguishes the game from many of the modern Final Fantasy games. The Active Time Battle system will let you stack characters and monsters to create customisable, strategic tower combinations to take on the most challenging foes. These stacks can even be made out of creatures you've captured and raised by yourself. We're not just talking about chocobos. What do you say to raising a cute cactuar, behemoth or Shiva?

If you like this idea of a sort of cute compilation of Final Fantasy games you'll be glad to hear that it'll launch October 28th. Want to see just how cute these characters are in action? Watch the trailer below.

REVIEW. Written by Kieran Harris

"After three decades at the forefront of the RPG genre it's refreshing to see that the franchise is still experimenting."
