H1Z1 has had a busy day, as we've not only found out that it's going free-to-play, but we also have new details about the H1Z1 Pro League competition (also know as the H1PL), including the teams that will be joining Daybreak Game Company for the inaugural season.

This debut season will start on April 21 in Las Vegas, and what's more is that the competition has teamed up with Facebook to exclusively broadcast all its digital content, with Caesars Entertainment being the official partner for venue and entertainment.

"Our goal with H1PL is to take the leap from Esports 1.0 to 2.0, establishing a league where for the first time in esports history, everyone participates in success - the fans, the players, the teams and all of our supporting partners," said Jace Hall, Co-Chairman of Twin Galaxies, who has partnered with Daybreak for the league. "The battle royale format has quickly become the most popular and entertaining multi-player video game genre, and we're confident that the H1PL will drive fan engagement and excitement to even higher levels through the use of groundbreaking production techniques along with access to Facebook's global gaming community."

We also have the full list of 15 teams joining the league for the first season, all of which will compete over two 10-week splits at Caesars Entertainment Studios, a production facility in Las Vegas. Here is the full list:

  • Alliance

  • Cloud9

  • Counter Logic Gaming

  • Echo Fox

  • Epsilon Esports

  • GankStars

  • Impact Gaming

  • Luminosity

  • Noble Esports

  • Obey Alliance

  • Rogue Gaming

  • SetToDestroyX

  • Team SoloMid

  • Tempo Storm

  • Vitality

All of this competition will come to us via Facebook Live, but there's more than just the competition on Facebook, as there are community features like free in-game rewards for those who join the streams. In terms of physical viewership though, the Twin Galaxies Esports Arena will take that role, which has hosted competitions like the Gears Pro Circuit in the past.

"The battle royale genre is fast becoming one of the most popular and accessible gaming categories to both watch and play, and we're excited to help this brand-new league for H1Z1 grow its community on Facebook," said Patrick Chapman, manager of esports partnerships at Facebook. "The league's primary focus to engage and support players and fans aligns closely to our commitment to help build the world's community for people to play, watch and share the games they love."

During each split the players in the league will be staying in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino, owned by Caesars Entertainment, who will also provide regional and national marketing support. The competition itself though will consist of two matches each week, coming from the arena where fans can also watch in person, and teams will compete for total cumulative match points, rewarding strategy, aggression, and outside-the-box thinking, all of which leads up to the H1Pl Battle Royale Championship this autumn.

"The H1Z1 Pro League will bring together the best players in the world to compete in the adrenaline-filled spectacle that is H1Z1, and we can think of no other city that matches the energy and excitement of battle royale than Las Vegas," said Mark Tuttle, Director of Esports at Daybreak Games. "With our announcement today that H1Z1 is now free to play, the stage is set for a robust and active community ready to tune into the H1PL every week."

More details, including tickets, will be announced soon, but for now it's good to get solid details on when the new season will start. Do you like what you've heard so far?
