Katamari Damacy and Noby Noby Boy creator Keita Takahashi is bringing Wattam to us in the future, and at PAX East we spoke with him about the inspiration for the game, which seems to have a bit to do with his own experience moving out of Japan.
"That's a hard question, because usually I get inspiration from our lives, like many things," he said. "I was living in Japan, then moved to Vancouver first - that was my first moment, moving outside of Japan, where everyone speaks English. Then I see so many diverse people, like not only Japanese but American, African, European, Chinese. Usually they speak their own language, but they can work together speaking in English. That's kind of impressive for me, because usually people speak only Japanese in Japan, but in Vancouver that's very different from Japan."
"And I was just thinking 'maybe I can make a game that people can get over something difficult for them using English/explosion'. So for me, the explosion is kind of English."
