Watch Dogs: Legion

Watch Dogs 3's new name has leaked, alongside mechanics

Amazon UK decided to confirm the London setting, as well as a cool feature that allows players to take control of a wide variety of characters.

When we shared our report about what was then called Watch Dogs 3 back in February, we could confirm that the game would be set in London, allowing us to choose the gender of our character and introducing some improvements to the parkour system. We didn't want to tell you more than that, as it would have ruined all the fun for all our friends at Ubisoft, but Amazon has decided to do that for us.

Amazon UK has just listed Watch Dogs Legion, and we can confirm that this is indeed the next entry in the Watch Dogs franchise. But what's with the weird name? Well, the game's description might explain that:

"Play as anyone, Every individual you meet in the open world, has a full set of animations, voice over, character traits and visuals that are generated & guided by gameplay systems."

"Watch_Dogs Legion is set in a near-future, dystopian version of London. It's a post-Brexit world in which society, politics and technology have changed and altered London's fortunes. London is one of the most iconic cities in the world and has had a massive influence on all of Western Culture for centuries... London makes total sense for WD, as the city has one of the highest surveillance levels in the world making this the perfect playground."

This doesn't just confirm that the game will be set in London, but that Ubisoft will take customisation to another level by letting us play as a large majority of the characters in the game. We're not talking about just two or three main characters here, but also your casual pedestrians. As these are individuals who live their own lives, controlling different people might give you access to new places and/or approach missions in different ways.

The unfortunate aspect of this is that it has the developers facing quite a few challenges, which is why Ubisoft is seriously considering delaying it from this autumn to early next year. It sounds like a final release date might be ready by Ubisoft's E3 conference at 21:00 BST (22:00 CEST) on June 10, so expect to see and hear a lot more then.

How do you like the sound of wreaking havoc as anyone you want in Watch Dogs Legion?
