The Church in the Darkness is an interesting take on the roguelike genre where you're tasked with infiltrating a cult in a South American jungle during the 1970s. The objective is to save your nephew, but you won't know whether this is a rather benign group or a more violent and dangerous one until you investigate. You'll get to know different people, see scenes play out and uncover secrets while trying to remain undetected.
At PAX East we got to see director, designer and writer Richard Rouse III from Paranoid Productions play about 10 minutes of the demo (a typical playthrough would take roughly an hour and a half he estimated, but given the procedural nature of the game you'll want to replay for different experiences). During this playthrough there's some sneaking going on, we get to witness a stoning, meet a key character and hide out in a chicken coop.
The Church in the Darkness is slated for release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One this year.
