Warframe developer Digital Extremes revealed plenty of announcements during their TennoCon event this year, and at the heart of this was the demo of the space combat expansion Empyrean, which you can watch right here.
Empyrean is all about combat at a large-scale, as you can fight between ships, cooperate with friends, customise your battleship, and more. You can control your ships during these battles, including elements like speed, shield, missiles, and gunner fire, and these can all be upgraded for maximum damage.
Squad Link is a new multiplayer system that we also got an insight into, with players able to call upon the help of other squads during missions, like lowering enemy health and stealing data. What's more is that Archwings can be used during missions, providing that extra option for players.
What's more is that the developer also debuted a cinematic Warframe intro courtesy of director Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane), reimagining the opening story. In fact, there are tons of trailers to watch from the event, all of which you can see down below, including the fourth cinematic quest The New War and the open world expansion Duviri Paradox, not to mention Nightwave Series 2 and Wukong Prime Access, both of which are available right now.
"Getting to work so collaboratively with the dev team at DE has been an awesome experience," Trachtenberg commented. "As a massive fan of the game myself, having logged in hundreds of hours of play time, it's been so much fun crafting a story that both sets up the universe for new players in a pretty epic way, while sprinkling it with moments that, I hope, make it doubly rewarding for hardcore fans with a better understanding of the game's lore."
After Plains of Eidolon and Fortuna, the Duviri Paradox is another open-world update taking players to an ominous new area with Operators as adults, and we're promised to be taken to the surreal with this expansion.
Last but not least we also have the news that Digital Extremes is offering players a chance to win $250,000 USD towards a trip to space, with more details available right here.
